From 4 to 6 March 2024, Zhang Zhaoguo, Vice President of SJTU, led a team to Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing University and University of Science and Technology of China to investigate undergraduate talent cultivation. Zhang Junliang, Director of Academic Affairs, Zhou Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of College of Marine, Oceanic and Architectural Engineering, and relevant responsible comrades from Academic Affairs, College of Marine, Oceanic and Architectural Engineering and College of Aeronautics and Astronautics accompanied the research.

 

Peng Gang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Tsinghua University; Wang Bo, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice President and Provost of Peking University; Dong Zhiyong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice President and Provost of Peking University; Fu Suiyan, Director of the Department of Academic Affairs; Lv Weifeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Deng Yi, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of BUAA and Qian Zheng, Director of the Department of Academic Affairs; Zou Yajun, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Nanjing University, and Wang Jun, Dean of the Undergraduate School of Nanjing University; and Wang Jun, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of USTC. University of Science and Technology of China (USTC); Zhou Congzhao, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of USTC; and Wu Xiaojun, Director of Academic Affairs Department, participated in the seminar and exchanged views.

 

During the research period, both sides launched in-depth discussions on the adjustment and optimisation of undergraduate professional settings, cultivation programmes and curriculum construction, teaching operation and management mechanism and safeguards, implementation of dual-degree programmes and transfer of majors, construction of quality assurance system, information technology work, undergraduate enrolment and other specific work. Zhang Zhaoguo said that we should actively respond to the opportunities and challenges of education and teaching brought by the new learning mode, continuously deepen the concept of "learning in Jiaotong University", strengthen the cooperation and exchange between universities, continuously optimise the education, teaching and management mode, and improve the quality of independent cultivation of talents.
