Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the list of the National First-class Undergraduate Construction Program in 2020. There are two majors, Agricultural Resources and Environment, Plant Science and Technology of School of Agriculture and Biology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University being selected into this program.

 

 

 

Plant Science and Technology

The cultivation concept of students in Plant Science and Technology is facing the needs of national modern agricultural development and the international frontier in the field of plant science, cultivating talents with a solid theoretical foundation and practical skills of plant science, and capable of carrying out independent work in the fields of modern agricultural scientific research, development, production and management

 

The history of the major of Plant Science and Technology can be traced back to 1980 (the former Shanghai Agricultural College). In 1999, it was changed to Plant Biotechnology, and in 2013, it was changed to the Plant Science and Technology.

 

 

 

Agricultural Resources and Environment

The history of the major of Agricultural Resources and Environment can be traced back to the former Shanghai Agricultural College. It was Resources and Environment and then changed to Agricultural Resources and Environment.

 

The concept of students’ cultivation surrounds with leading the value, exploring knowledge, and building capacity. Facing the national priority of the strategy of developing a green and ecological environment and the international frontier of related research area, Agricultural Resources and Environment devote to cultivating students with a solid professional knowledge and skills, good humanities and scientific ethic, strong social responsibility and international vision, with the capability of leading this industry and outstanding agricultural innovation talents.

Relying on the excellent agriculture and forestry implementation plan of the Ministry of Education, these two majors cultivate top talents with broad knowledge, innovative spirit and indomitable spirit.

 

We realize 100% coverage of "Nongyao Program, PRP and IPP" and other undergraduate featured practical courses. We have carried out many "2+2" dual degree programs in cooperation with Cornell, Hebrew and other well-known international universities, and introduced three Cornell courses into school including "Sustainable Development and Sustainable Energy System".

 

In the future, school will follow the requests of "double first-class construction" and "new agricultural construction", and strengthen the discipline construction, deepening of revelation, building up a new cultivation system of characteristic agricultural excellence innovative talent and an innovation system of modern agricultural science and technology, to improve the overall quality of professional construction and talents' cultivation.
